Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the International Conference on 'C. The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics' in New Delhi, asserting that responsibility for carbon emissions is unfairly placed on developing countries. He highlighted that India's per capita emissions are less than half the global average, whereas developed nations emit six times more per person. The Prime Minister emphasized that India is the only G20 country to have fulfilled its Paris COP-21 commitments ahead of schedule, citing a rise in solar capacity from 2 gigawatts to over 160 gigawatts in twelve years. Modi detailed domestic progress including the installation of rooftop solar panels in over five million homes under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and the deployment of solar pumps for three million farmers via Kusum Yojana. He noted that these initiatives, alongside the completion of the 'One Nation, One Grid project, have prevented 20 crore carbon emissions. The Prime Minister also announced pathways for private sector participation in nuclear energy, referencing the SHANTI Act from December 2025, and celebrated the launch of India's first green hydrogen train. The two-day conference, organized by the National Green Tribunal, brought together judicial and governmental stakeholders from 17 countries to discuss environmental justice and policy gaps. Attendees included Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, and representatives from the United Nations Environment Programme and the Asian Development Bank.
